Safety & Security
Your Wallet, Your Responsibility
While Otto Wallet provides an interface to interact with DeFi protocols, the security of your actual funds relies entirely on the security of your connected Web3 wallet.
Key Points:
- You Control Your Keys: Otto Wallet never has access to your private keys or seed phrases. You maintain full custody and control over your assets through your own wallet (e.g., MetaMask, hardware wallet).
- Sole Responsibility: You are solely responsible for safeguarding your:
- Private Keys
- Seed Phrases (Recovery Phrases)
- Wallet Passwords
- Any other credentials related to your wallet.
- Secure Practices: Implement best practices for wallet security:
- Store your seed phrase securely offline. Never share it.
- Use strong, unique passwords.
- Beware of phishing scams and malicious websites.
- Consider using a hardware wallet for significant amounts.
- Keep your wallet software and browser updated.
Losing access to your wallet means losing access to your funds. Otto cannot recover your keys or assets if your wallet is compromised.
